Position Summary:

The Arc of the District of Columbia seeks a Warehouse Operations Manager to manage the day to day activities at its warehouse in Hyattsville, MD. The ideal candidate is a logistics and/or operations professional looking to make a difference in the lives of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. The warehouse serves as a central location for The Arc of DC’s mail, event and convention programs. In addition to managing the facility, the Warehouse Manager will provide support to our mail fulfillment and custodial team onsite.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages day to day workload of five full time staff at two mail fulfillment facilities in Hyattsville, MD area.
  • Manages inventory and makes suggested improvements to current inventory management system
  • Oversees receiving, storage, and distribution of all warehouse materials
  • Ensures compliance with contract requirements for mail fulfillment and storage
  • Oversees mail fulfillment team to ensure orders are accurate and packaged appropriately
  • Helps support and develop mail fulfillment team to encourage their professional growth
  • Maintains physical conditions of warehouse facility to ensure effective space utilization and organization
  • Liaise with contractors and advise on and manage warehouse renovation
  • Operates forklift
  • Completes required warehouse management reports
  • Completes weekly deliveries of packaged mail
  • Communicates with customers to ensure mail fulfillment, delivery, and storage needs/concerns are addressed
  • Maintains safety of warehouse staff, visitors, facility, and equipment and reports all safety concerns and incidents
  • Complies with federal, local, and company policies regarding mail fulfilment and warehouse management
  • Completes required training and professional development courses
  • Assists warehouse staff and ensures monthly reporting is completed accurately and on time.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in warehouse and inventory management practices required
  • Strong people management skills with the demonstrated ability to train and mentor a team
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities strongly preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with forklift operations and maintenance
  • Knowledge of facility management best practices, including safety protocols
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and adjust to a varied schedule
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to operate independently and as a team member, regularly use judgment and discretion in accomplishing goals and objectives.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft and Google products.
  • CPR and First Aid certification highly desired
  • Knowledge of District of Columbia vocational rehabilitation rules and processes highly desired
  • Clean driving record and ability to drive every day between two facility locations (located 9 minutes apart)
